The Floating Red Couch is the couch parked squarely in front of my 42" Sony LCD. It is the site of most of my observations about cinema and media and et cetera over the last five or so years. It is covered with dog hair and baby germs.

Poltergeist

Tonight I took it easy with a movie that I've seen hundreds of times.  I love ghosts, but I hate almost every ghost movie because they always end up the same way.  The ghost is a murdered douche bag and the person being haunted is supposed to solve the mystery of the murdered douche bag.

Poltergeist is by far an exception.  A movie of random ghosties haunting a middle class Republican family without the need for any major back story.  The sequels ruined that charm, so I refuse to acknowledge that they're part of the same franchise despite sharing a creepy little blonde girl.

Other exceptions to the ghost movie rule:

  1. The Frighteners
  2. Paranormal Activity
  3. Blair Witch (I never thought it was that bad)

Anyone else know of any others?  I'm desperate for quality ghost movies.

In this flick, I always found JoBeth Williams decently babe-a-licious for a super skinny eighties chick.  I saw her in the Cybill remake on CBS a couple years ago.

.......she doesn't seem to be aging gracefully.....

  1. True. The Haunting should also be praised for it's lack of murdered douche bag.

The Shining should be mentioned. Loove the old lady.
